today is Wednesday. this morning, i went to the Wednesday mass at the Gonzaga Chapel. i don't usually attend this mass, but it is sort of my way of compensating for the Sunday mass i missed. i'm not saying that attending mass on any weekday is tantamount to attending mass on a Sabbath day. i just wanted to show the Lord that i'm trying to make it up to Him. i actually made a resolution to attend the Wednesday mass whenever i can. like i always say, Hey God, this one's for you!

Lit class was very inspiring and thought-provoking as usual. We discussed the short story "The Woman in the Lighthouse" by Jane Hidalgo. the premise is simple, but still heart-wrenching: a woman and a priest fall in love with each other, but they don't end up together, because of the priest's vow. I used to think that a ROMANTIC story is just ANY love story. Wrong.

The basic elements of a Romantic story is this: two people meet and fall deeply in love, but at the end of the day, they don't end up together. hmm.. familiar. who would have thought i'd experience Romanticism this early in my life? =P

i was saddened by this story not only because the denouement was disappointing, but because i could relate to it. sometimes, no matter how much you love a person, there will be circumstances that could pull you apart. through the years, i've learned how to use my head simultaneously with my heart when it comes to loving a person. the greatest act of love i've done so far was to LET GO of a person i hold dear because i know it is for our good. i have no regrets in doing so. it is my greatest joy to see that someone dear to me
is happy.

this adage is cheesy, but i really believe it's true:
if you love someone, set him free; if he comes back, he's yours; if he doesn't, it wasn't meant to be.
